Microsoft Student Partners | Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador | What is MSP/MLSA? | Steps to apply for MLSA | Benefits of being an MSP | Inspire | Teach | Promote | By Team Amaze
Introduction:-
MSP (Microsoft Student Partner) or MLSA (Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador) both are same thing. MLSA is not just a program but a global community of on-campus ambassadors who always look for ways to help students and teach them about different kinds of tech, development skills, soft skills, etc. and solve their queries with the help of Microsoft technologies. And also provide them amazing swags for encouragement.
Steps to fill up the form:
Here’s the link to the application form. Take as much time you need while filling up the form but not too long. Applications are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. By chance, if there’s any deadline, it will be present in your application.
- Log in /Sign Up to Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors with your Microsoft account.
- Click on “Apply Now”.
- Will see an application divided in 6 segments. First, go through all the “Privacy Policies” and tap on “I agree”.
- The second and third section consists questions regarding some personal and school info (such as name, email, school name etc.) respectively.
- Then there comes the most important part of the application, the “Written Sample” section. Here the applicants have to answer 3 simple questions and make a video of at most 2 min. on any one of the 3 or on all, their call.
- The second last section is of “Additional Info”, mainly asking for an applicant’s profiles, social media handles and technical work (such as tech-blogging), if done any.
- After that, choose the technologies that interests one in the “Technical Skills”.
Hints to Questions in "Written Sample"
In the present application, applicants have to
write about their inspiration and why they wanna help, how can they teach a technical
concept to a layman, and how can they promote their seminar, hackathon or what
so ever they’ve planned to reach more and more people.
There can be numerous reasons for tech to attract one, it can be via gaming, AI, programming etc. And about the ‘help’
part well you know for yourself otherwise you won’t be here and if you still
don’t know then think.
Now to the next one, take any concept say ‘variables’
in programming languages, and consider an empty basket, just like you put your things
in a basket, you store values like integers, characters, decimals numbers etc. in variable(s). That’s just one
example, there can be several others not just in programming but in other domains
(technical) too.
Now the last one, well, that’s easy, through advertising, more specifically social media, text messages, posters etc.
Benefits of being an MSP
You will be rewarded according to your hard
work, progress and milestones you reach. There are mainly 3 milestones for this
program – Alpha, Beta, Gold, however, these can also have sub-categories.
All the new applicants start at Alpha and receive Azure credits, free domain name, certification vouchers etc. Betas can get an invitation to join the annual MLSA Summit, among other things. And the Gold ones get pass to special events and a chance to become a Student Ambassador Regional Leader, and also a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional).
Not only that, you may also get access to many other Microsoft’s software and hardware packages which are distributed for testing and promotional purposes.
Conclusion:
So, basically your job (if become an MSP) would be to make more and more people aware about the modern-day technologies, skills, and guide them towards a bright future.
You yourself can learn from experts (in case you don’t have proper knowledge regarding any topic) based on your interests (from the application) then you can transfer that knowledge to others through hackathons, seminars, webinars etc.
Not everyone can apply for this post except University and College students and results are announced quarterly. And one more thing, there can only be 1 ambassador at 1 college.
And just like that, you are now fully aware about the whole process and ready to apply.
A word of advice for all of you, don’t copy paste anyone else’s answer. They (Microsoft) receive hundreds and thousands of applications every day. So, try to be yourself and hopefully everything will go smoothly.
And while results are not out, you can visit
Microsoft Azure and develop some new skills and contribute to open-source,
another way to improve yourself and help others.
